How we write
Member testimonials
Member success stories are one of the most powerful proof points Buffini has. They demonstrate the Proven trait with real outcomes, real names, and real careers. These rules govern how testimonials, Member quotes, and case study content are handled in external copy.
Rules
Attribution and accuracy
Always attribute a testimonial to the person who said it. Include first and last name. Include market, title, or years of experience when relevant and approved by the Member. Do not attribute a quote anonymously unless the Member has specifically requested it.
Do not alter a Member’s direct quote without their permission. Publish the words they used. If a quote needs to be shortened, use an ellipsis to indicate omitted material. If context is needed, add a bracketed word or phrase. Do not clean up grammar, update vocabulary, or change meaning without going back to the Member for approval.
Approval and consent
Member testimonials must be approved by the Member before publication. This applies to all channels: web, email, social, print, and events.
If a Member is no longer active, verify that their testimonial is still appropriate to use before republishing. Do not use testimonials from Members who have formally requested removal or who are no longer in good standing with the brand.
Framing and context
The Member is always the hero of their own story. Frame case studies and success stories around the Member’s experience, results, and transformation. Buffini is the guide. Do not write case studies that position the brand as the subject of the story.
When citing specific income or production figures from a Member, use only verified data and note the time period it reflects. Do not imply that results are typical without appropriate context. Results vary, and the Proven trait demands accuracy, not exaggeration.
